Interrogative Pronouns in Spanish language

- Interrogative pronouns are pronouns to make questions. As in other languages, English or German for example, in Spanish language interrogative pronouns are typically placed at or very near the beginning of a sentence.

- In Spanish normally in an interrogative sentence the order of the subject and verb is reversed:
Examples: ¿Qué eres (tú)? / ¿Qué es usted? - ¿Dónde vives (tú)? / ¿Dónde vive usted?


- In Spanish language it is necessary to open (¿) a question mark at the beginning of a sentence and to close (?) at the end of the sentence.

- Interrogative pronouns have always an accent (´)

- Prepositions are placed before the interrogative pronoun.
Example: ¿De dónde eres? / ¿Con quién hablas? / ¿A qué hora comes normalmente?

- To identify people: ¿Quién eres?/¿Quién es usted? / ¿Quiénes sois?/¿Quiénes son ustedes?

- To ask name, family name: ¿Cuál es tu nombre? / ¿Cómo te llamas?

- To ask the address and other personal details: ¿Cuál es tu dirección? / ¿Cuál es tu teléfono?

- To ask the age: ¿Cuántos años tienes?

- To ask about the profession: ¿Qué eres? / ¿Qué haces? / ¿A qué te dedicas?

- To ask about the origin: ¿De dónde eres? / ¿De dónde es usted?

- To ask about where you are: ¿Dónde estás? / ¿Dónde está usted?

- To ask about destination: ¿Adónde vas?

- To identify things, places: ¿Qué es esto? / ¿Qué es eso? / ¿Qué es ese edificio?

- To ask about the price: ¿Cuánto cuesta? / ¿Cuánto vale? / ¿Cuánto es?

- To ask the time: ¿Qué hora es?
